This morning on BTN there was a story about how the government is funding olympic sports a lot of money every year.

I wasn’t alive back then but in 1976 at montreal the Australians won 0 medals and it wasn’t till after that when the government built the Australian Instatute of Sport. Today 80% of our taxes goes to sports funding. 60 million of that goes to the olympic commitie and 20% goes towards the much less funded footy, cricket, basketball and ect. The argument of this story is that really popular sports that aren’t in the olympics are only getting a small portion of our taxes. The money for the olympics gets spent on accomadating the olympians and to supply them with training grounds back in Australia.

Many people think that if you have a big sporting event held somewhere in your country it will incourage more people to play that perticular sport. It is so important to recieve olympic medals because the more popular we are the more the population increases

This topic was about Code Red which is a new warning system for Bushfires around our country.

Many people around Australia are protecting their property because of the bushfires incase they come back again.

This is very important to all people because they can lose homes, family and and other supplies. It is important to leave early because you have less risk of getting yourself  killed.

The bushfires which happened in Victoria were the worst bushfires Australia has ever had.  There have been many weather reports on the weather to see where the bushfires are coming this summer and making people aware to head out of their area early at the right time.

At Marysville there is nothing. It was burnt in the bushfires and every thing was gone.

Think of all those who have lost their lives in Bushfires and act early.

Many people think that schools are very different to what you see on movies,many movies like the High School Musical Series and sports series are held at American schools .

Most movies do have the same kind of schools as you see on movies they have the same sort of lockers, classrooms, food, and many more same things.

Most kids in America love Australia but do not know many singers, actors, sports stars, places and many more interesting things about Australia.

In most movies America seem to win everything and never lose especially in basketball and baseball, but I guess America are very good at baseball and basketball because they always win the gold medal at the Olympics.

I think it would be awesome to live in America because most of my favourite stars live there such as Marion Barber, Tony Romo, Johnny Depp, Matt Damon and many more of my favourite stars.Hollywood where all the Grammies and Logies are held, and all the funk and glamour is there.

Koalas are famous animals to all people around Australia. People visiting the zoo love cuddling the koalas’ and enjoy playing with them but they all feel sorry about them because all their home have been wrecked by the governments decisions. Koalas are one of the most recognisable animals we have in our Australian population. Many people from companies have made heaps of things to enjoy other people and children like toys, equipment and chocolate for example Cadbury Koalas.

The amount of Koala’s around Australia has dropped massively. Some of the major things about the koala’s is their homes some of their homes have been demolished by clearing. Up to 80 per cent of koalas’ home areas have been cleared for building houses and for roads works. This is extremely important for all koalas because without gumtrees and leaves they will not survive and that is one of the reasons why the population of koalas has gone down.

National threatened species scientific committee to check what number the animals wether there endangered or extinct.

They are making decisions about the koalas at the moment and the decisions will be revealed soon.

Koalas are one of the most recognised animal in Australia. I don’t know about you, but when someone says the word Australia the animals that pop into my head would be the Kangaroo and the Koala. When tourists come to Australia, they often go to the zoo just to have a cuddle of these teddy- bear- like animals, and we should be very proud of that.

Koalas are becoming extinct because we are destroying their land and they have nowhere to live, they can’t eat because the gumtrees are gone, that means so are the gum leaves.  They probably can’t drink either, because we have bulldozed their water hole or lakes. If the koalas become extinct tourists won’t really come anymore because they will not be able to cuddle the Koalas.

We have to remember that the animals were here before us, so we can’t just come whenever we feel comfortable and bulldoze their land to make us have homes and things. Some animals lovers like me and I’m sure that there are a lot of them out there, feel like we should go and find  a koala and bring them into our house to live,  because it is just not right on how we are treating these poor little animals that are becoming extinct.

If we want to bulldoze their land for what ever reason, then could we please make another home for them to live, but a better one so they are convinced that this is the place to go. I know that it would take alot of time and work, but do you really want make our most recognised animal in Australia become extinct. So please, when you are going to the zoo to see a Koala or just see one in a tree on your way to your holiday, remember that they were here first and that we are kind of are stealing their land.

In America the lifestyle for the kids is much different, especially the kids in Lincoln, California. These kids are right near Hollywood Beverly Hills and all those big places.

They’re so lucky that they’re near big famous places like Hollywood so they get to see big stars often, not like us. We have to travel very far to meet famous people. They also get to go to amusement parks, when if we want to go to amusement parks we have to go to the gold coast or somewhere far away.

American schools aren’t necessarily how the movies show them, like High School Musical. They don’t just randomly sing and dance in the cafeteria but there are some of the same things like cheer leading baseball and NFL, they are really big America.

These kids are extremely lucky that they get to see movie stars. Imagine traveling 15 minutes away and you’ve seen a big movie star or going to Hollywood for your school excursion, how fun and awesome would that be. There’s also Beverly Hills which has a nice beach, nice houses and expensive restaurants. 

Considering us Australians know a lot about America like about their president and about their actors you would think that they would know about us, but surprisingly they know hardly anything. The only thing they really know about us is our animals, oh and a couple of actors but they don’t even know Heath Ledger or Hugh Jackman who are big actors in Australia, and they don’t even know Steve Irwin the crocodile hunter.

In America, school is very different. It’s not like the movies, they go to school, they don’t sing on tables like high school musical, they have a canteen which they get snacks from and they have hamburgers for lunch. Many kids in California think that that the movies are very different from reality and that they exaggerate the schools in America.

Many kids in America say that they see lots of movie stars and famous people around their area. They look in magazines and see the movie stars and think that they have already seen them and are lucky to see them go to Oscar Award and other award shows.

Their lifestyle is pretty much the same as ours, they go to school, they do work, they have lunch, they go home, they do homework and they go to bed. They also have holidays and they go to the movies and eat popcorn while there watching the newest film which came out.

Many kids imagine Australia as a dry, hot, desert filled with kangaroos and wallabies. They say that it is just like a big desert and that it isn’t like America and all their movie stars which they see.

There are fifty states in America and they are all full of thousands and millions of people. America, theoretically, is the most powerful country in the world and could defeat many countries with little help from alias. This is because of its vast amount of military personal and citizens.

On BtN this week, there was a story about Californian schools. Now I know you have seen TV shows and movies about how they live ,go to school and other things, but have you ever wondered if they really live like that?

Some things that we see on TV shows are still the same, like Cheerleading, free dress when they go to school, dining halls and school lunches so if you thought that it was the same, you are mostly right. Also NFL , Basketball and Baseball are a pretty important sport over there.

We know about American film stars and their important people, but do they know about us? The reporter asked them some questions about Australia but surprisingly, they don’t have a clue about us! They don’t even know people like Steve Irwin, Hugh Jackman or even Heath Ledger!

California is the movie state, so you can see celebrities everywhere. You can see the stars everywhere, from the local coffee shop to the shopping mall, or even the movies themselves! The biggest place to see celebrities is Beverly Hills, where some of the celebrities live. Wouldn’t it be cool to see stars like Brad Pitt, Lily Allen and Angelina Jolie?

Their school lifestyle is different to ours; they buy their lunches, then sit down in a big dining hall and eat their lunch, which is different to our school. They don’t have recess; they have nutrition which is a break where they get whatever they want.

So basically life in a Californian school is life our school.

Aboriginal Language

  A small school in northern territory has just been told that they can only talk their own Aboriginal language for only one hour at school a day and English for four hours a day. Also an interesting fact about the aboriginal language there used to be 250 different aboriginal languages.

The government has made this law because they are worried that they are not going to be good at English in the future.

Some of the people aren’t happy because they are worried that in the future there language might disappear and some of the teachers aren’t good at English so they might lose their jobs. Also some think it will be ok because they will get better at their English and they will still get to talk in their normal language after school for the rest of the day.

It will also take a lot of time to get used to the new way of school. So do you think it was a good idea?

I bet you have seen a movie about schools in America.  Most people have. But is all you see really reality? In fact most of it is made up. Schools in California are pretty much the same as Australia’s. Apart from the fact that there are Hollywood movie stars everywhere.

California is a state in North America containing cities like Beverly Hills, Hollywood (the capital of entertainment) and Santa Monica.  Since there is Hollywood right next to some schools Movie stars would be walking round the streets which would create a lot of attention.

‘High school shows’. When reality shows aren’t reality. People think that a normal high school is like High School Musical. Busy, packed and usually in chaos.  There are people fighting and people screaming for their lunch money back. There are gangs of ‘emos’ and ‘gangsters’ and ‘nerds’. This stuff is only in big Hollywood movies.

Normal American schools are all pretty much the same as ours they have the same subjects and their corridors are not tunnels of chaos as shown in the movies. Although cheerleading is in fact, is quite popular.

The students in America think that we go to school in the middle of the dessert with kangaroos and emus. So everybody has their own opinion of each other. But in movies, most of the stuff is fake.
