Sport funding

Today on BTN they were talking about sport funding. They said that 80% of sport money goes to Olympic sport. So people that do Olympic sport get a lot more money the people that do sport like football, tennis, golf, cricket football and basketball don’t get as much money but there is more population for football basketball. Yet the government gives the Olympic sports more money than non Olympic sports.

Some people think it is good because in 1976 Australia got 0 medals so they are putting in more money so they will be more successful and to make Australia more popular. Some people also think it is bad because they’re putting too much money into Olympics sports and they’re not putting any money in sports like football and basketball.

I think the government should give popular sports more money because they have put so much money into Olympic sports. So if they put more money into popular sports they might put bigger sports grounds in so they can even fit more people in to see a game of sport so what do you think they should do?

Aboriginal Language

Aboriginal Language

A small school in northern territory has just been told that they can only talk their own Aboriginal language for only one hour at school a day and English for four hours a day. Also an interesting fact about the aboriginal language there used to be 250 different aboriginal languages.

The government has made this law because they are worried that they are not going to be good at English in the future.

Some of the people aren’t happy because they are worried that in the future there language might disappear and some of the teachers aren’t good at English so they might lose their jobs. Also some think it will be ok because they will get better at their English and they will still get to talk in their normal language after school for the rest of the day.

It will also take a lot of time to get used to the new way of school. So do you think it was a good idea?

Rememberance day for all creatures

On the eleventh of the eleventh every year is a very special day called rememberance day this is a day were we remember all the soldiers and animals who fought for our country.

All animals had a major role in the world wars both one and two.they sometimes took messages to soldiers, and worned them when an enemy ship or plane was near by and sometimes just to keep them company.

some of the animals envolved in war were horses, rats, glow worms, cats, dog and birds. As i stated above all of these animals played a important role no matter what that jmay have been. Donkeys and horses carry heavy loads over long distantses dogs and cats kept them company and told them when an enemy was close glow worms helped the soldiers read important notes and birds kept every happy and that’s the role animals played during war.

Avatars

For those of you who don’t know, an Avatar in the online environment is a picture that represents you. It appears next to comments you make on blogs. As part of the challenge09 we have all been asked to create an avatar. 6C made an avatar for our blog. It is called Rungadus and you can read about it here.

You have also been asked to create a personal avatar. I don’t need to write about this because Miss Wyatt has already explained it here. If you follow all of her instructions, we will be well on our way to completing the second part of the challenge.

For my avatar, I chose a picture of myself. I realise that this is something we have advised students not to do. That is because as a teacher, I am responsible for your safety. As an adult, my safety is something I have to manage myself. Also, it is much more fun making an avatar using all the links provided in Miss Wyatt’s class blog.  Please create an avatar for yourself, and blog about it remembering to use challenge09 in your blog post. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Our Avatar: Rungadus

We chose our avatar Rungadus for the challenge09 because of our year level. We are excellent at listening to other people and friends, that’s why our avatar has big ears, the princess symbol because our school is talked about everywhere in Victoria, the big legs because we are phenomenal at running. The funny looking teeth are because we are humorous. The arms are for our strength and finally the antennas for electrifying speed and that means we finish our work really fast.
