Fake Industries!

So many girls look up to the modelling industry. You wish that you could look just like them, they have the fame and fortune. The models are always representing the magazines and sort of ordering you to be just like them!  So many girls do whatever it takes. Even some take it too far, but the truth is it’s all fake! So the Government is trying to change all that!

How come industries are saying what is beautiful and what is not. I feel they should admire everyone’s differences, well i say why does THE LOOK have to be with a clear face (no freckles or pimples), tanned skin, on the tip of anorexic, mussecly all over for the men and a  nice long figure? Why can’t they just get it into their head that not everyone can acheive that look!

D id you know that models aren’t as beautifull as they seem, infact they are only half as pretty! The industries just fix there pimples and freckles on the computer. The trick is airbrushing another colour over the top of the picture. Also men can have their skin airbrushed on their stomach to make it look like they have bigger abs! No offense but i would be in total embarrassment if pretending to be fake just to get onto a billboard ect..! This is why I admire Sarah Murdock!

Sarah Murdock has decided to let every one see her wrinkles and she is proud of that! Anyway she is still georgeous because everyone can see the real her!

The Government has only been able to disencourage the industries to keep going with the computer effects, but i feel that will change some day.

Obesity Ads

People are saying that a big result in obesity is from the fast food advertisements on television. Did you know that 3 in 10 people are either obese or overweight. Health authorities complained to the AMCA company and all they did was to reduce the number of times the ads are shown. I agree with the health authorities and believe fast food advertisements should be banned completely!

Fast food advertisements look like a fun and creative (little gimmicks inside) way to eat delicious and healthy food. Well that is entirely wrong; the companies are saying that the food they sell is very healthy, when it is actually fatty! Did you know that KFC used to be called Kentucky Fried Chicken, but now that people know fried chicken is full of fat, the company decided to change their name to KFC. Now no one suspects a thing!

I believe that the food the companies sell is overpriced because you are usually not getting the quality you deserve. The real reason that the food is overpriced is because the company is making us pay for the extra packaging, the advertising and any gimmicks that accompany the food item!

Another reason is on the ads, the advertising companies make the  presentation of the food look perfect! Then when you actually receive the food it is usually just stuffed in its packet. Also food is cooked before you order it!

In conclusion this topic needs to be resolved with a result that food ads to be shown on television only if they are approved by the health authorities! If you have an opinion please reply to this post because I would love to hear your thoughts!

Camels culled or Camels survive?

Camels originated from Africa. They ventured into Australia in the early settlers time, when they were being used for transport. At this stage you are probably thinking why would camels be a problem because not many people live in the desert, but the ones that do have decided to take a stand!

AGAINST:

Camel population has risen by double every 90 years and camels want water as much as human, so they will do everything in their power to get it! In South Australia near a town called Uluru camels are knocking down fences and smashing fire hydrants to get their hands on some water. The community that live in that area are disgrased and horrified as they say herds are intruding in hundreds at a time!

One of the men has cattle of 4000 and wants camels to be culled urgently, the reason for this is that he has to pump water from underground to allow the cattle to receive water. The camels are intruding and using up all of the cattle’s water supply!

FOR:

On the other hand a man in the same community has a totally different point of view. He adopted a camel when it was a banded from it’s herd. The man believes that camels deserve to live because it would be wrong  to cull such a precious animal!

In my opinion camels should not be culled because camels were there first and why do humans have to be incharge of the world? (They are not doing the best job at it.) Why don’t the humans just move if they have such a problem with the camels. But to be truthful i would rather be writing about bigger topics in the world that need to be solved in Australia like our debt, our weather and sustainability because in order to solve the little things we need to solve the big issues first! Thankyou for reading.

Animal Creultry

I have written about a report about the cruelty humans do to animals

PIGS

Pigs have been held in pens since the 1960′s, but now that all might change! A woman who is an animal activist trespassed into a farm in Tasmania and look what she found! Breeding pigs are kept in pens where they can’t even turn around or exercise. Farmers say it is better for them! HOW? She reported videos to the police. (The videos which had pigs with maggots on them and in very harsh conditions.)They were also struck by famine and water was no where to be found! The owner of the farm was charged by the police. How he looks after and where he keeps the pigs is called intensive farming. Farmers say they use this method because they’re under more and more pressure to produce pork for the growing population! But this doesn’t mean they can treat pigs this badly!

But the good thing is pigs and other animals have special protection laws (codes of practice) that outlines how farmers have to look after their animals! But animal activists don’t think the rules go far enough. Some farmers say that the pigs are only in the pen for a short amount of time. When their pregnant, then they go out on to a field. When pigs live outside it is called free range and is so much better for the pigs! If you are as concerned as I am look on the back of your bacon and pork packets and see if it says free range!

This certain piggery was one of the biggest in Tasmania and supplies to lots of Woolworths supermarkets! How disgraceful. Woolworths told the piggery to pick up their act!

No one would like to see another situation like this again! But unfortunately other animals have the same story!

DID YOU KNOW-PIGS

Pigs are highly intelligent and social animals.

Pigs have regularly out-performed dogs in learning tests.

Pigs are curious animals and if living free range they will spend hours each day exploring the outdoors.

Pigs are very clean. When living in a shed they will push all the straws to one end for sleeping, and use the other end as a toilet!

Pigs naturally form small groups and develop strong bonds.

DUCKS

Duck shooting. Another duck killing season is currently on in 2009. Plus drought and climate is still biting hard for native ducks, but the Minister has given the shooters a full season to shoot again!

DOGS

Farmers/Breeders receive dogs and force them to keep breeding until they get sick or too old and then they sell the puppies!

CHICKENS

Kept in wire cages called Battery Farms. Then have light shining right on them. At midnight when the farmers turn the lights off, the chickens think its bed time and go to sleep. After and hour or so the farmers turn the on and the chickens think it is daylight and start laying again.

SHARKS AND WHALES

Sharks have fins chopped off and used for things. And we all know how whales are killed!

HORSES

Steeple chasing! See my last blog report that will tell you about my horses!

I hope you have realized how strongly I feel about this!

Steeple Chasing Danger!

Horse Racing has been around for over 100 years. It all started when to Irish men decided to have a bet to see which man and their horse could jump over the steeples between two churches first! Then it grew from there. But recently a debate has risen to decide if Steeple Chasing should be banned or not. My topic is against because Steeple Chasing is very violent and extremely dangerous, although very entertaining! In 2008 twelve horses died from Steeple Chasing!

Against 1:

It is cruel and dangerous to horses, when they are forced to Steeple Chase. For instance, in the meet in Warrnambool three horses were put down. This is because when horses have injuries, their legs are too complicated to fix. Plus horses are hurt when jockeys are lashing them!

Against 2:

At the meets there are high amounts of gambling and alcohol. Such as people are sitting there watching with friends, and acohol all around you. So you would be tempted. Also gambling is addictive, because there are ATM’s all around you. i could not think of anyone over the age of 18 of course, that would not be the slightest bit tempted to  drink or gamble!

Against 3:

Thirdly, there is too much water wastage on the fields. Imagine all the water wastage when the gardeners water the flowers and the grass. They have authorization from the Government even with the drought! How unfair and repulsive!

Now I am in love with animals and I believe they do not deserve to be treated like this! Even though the arguments for are stronger, there is no reason for innocent horses to be forced to stay in a box or train, and run. Plus be lashed for the sake of racing!

Do you think Steeple Chasing should eventually be banned or not? Comment me because I would really like to hear your opinion!

Oil at Sea!

I had been hearing people chattering about Oil Spill, Oil Spill, but I didn’t think it was this bad! On the 10th of March 2009, Ex-Cyclone Hamish moved down the Sunshine Coast of Queensland picking up high winds and big seas! Fortunately not much damage occurred on land, whereas a boat at sea is a whole different story!

I am talking about the Pacific Adventurer, it was on its way from Newcastle to Brisbane when it ran into some very rough seas! Thirty-one containers that contained some very important and dangerous chemicals were washed overboard. One of the containers hit the ships hull and made a hole in the ships fuel tank! Around 20,000 litres of oil leaked out!

Did you know that oil is lighter than water so as the oil spilt oil, the oil started floating on the top of the water and oil can also spread much faster than water. The oil washes up onto the beaches. “It’s Black, it’s several millimetres thick and there’s an almost overwhelming stench!” said a fellow reporter. Smaller amounts of oil washed ashore the Marcoola Beach which is further north on the Sunshine Coast.

One of Queensland’s disastrous things is that now Wildlife is at risk! Already birds have been washed ashore dead! EPA is treating the wildlife. You would probably think what does wildlife have to do with the Oil Spill, but birds are always floating along the water. Birds have an oil layer over their feathers so they don’t get drenched, such as a protective layer of skin. But now oil is becoming stuck to the birds and eventually will make the birds flightless. Also turtles, dolphins and fish will choke on the oil! So volunteers and EPA vets are deodorising and washing the fauna. However this is not such an easy job!

Authorities say that cleanup will cost around $100,000 a day to cleanup and the shipping company will be in charge of paying the humongous bill! Plus the captain a further half a million! The oil also spread 60 kilometres of Queensland’s coast line! Imagine all those unhappy beachers and tourists. I feel that this inncident is similar to the 1978 Amaco Spill in France! a disaster management coordination centre has set up their site to manage the cleanup. here are some comments from locals.

1. “It’s quite heavy in some spots. Iv’e just been down there for a walk myself and have come back and it’s all caked over my thongs and all over my feet!”

2. Prime Minister Kevin Rudd says the Federal Government will pitch in to help with the clean-up of the coastline.

3.”All the rocks are covered in oil. Millions of crustaceans must have died as a result!”

Let’s hope this disaster wil never occur again!

China Expolited and Aussies left out!

In the past few years made in Australia brands are changing to made in China brands!

One of the factories is Bonds. They have been Australian made since 1915, untill now. You would think to have things made in Australia, sold in Australia. Plus imagine all the unhappy workers from their fired jobs! Bond is owned by a company called Pacific Brands that owns lots of other brands too, and they’ve just announced that they are closing 7 factories and moving their factories to China! That will lose 2000 jobs in Australia! So we ask why do they manufacture overseas if it causes Australia so much heartache? The truth is that Australia is a developed country which means that the wages are higher. But China is a developing country and that means that they are much poorer than us and they will settle for lower wages, because they need the money so badly! And that means that the companies will get more profit and the prices in Australia will reduce. Did you know that less than 10 percent of Australia’s clothes are actually made in Australia! Do you think that China should have to be be exploited like this because they have to work in harsh conditions and dangerous long hours. It is because they don’t have the protective laws like Australia do!

It is so upsetting from all the workers that lost their jobs and with the economic crisis I feel it is only going to get worse!

Burnt Home Visits

So many tradgic things have happened in the past 2 months. Homes have been destroyed and in particular over 200 people have died!

BTN has gone down to the damaged suburbs to see how people are coping and listening to their dredful stories. Even though Kinglake has been struck by the fires, Kinglake West Primary is still up and running. Some children don’t have homes but they are still going to school!

Sarah from BTN spoke to some children and they said that they had to move from house to house because they kept collapsing and they also had to hide in underground places, to stay safe! Sarah said that it so much more frightening than on tv. Plus I feel that children don’t realise that over 200 people died in Victoria, which is near us! And lots of houses don’t have underground safety places. So I think that everyone should have a fire plan, before it strikes again!

East Timor Volunteers!

East Timor Volunteers
East Timor is the newest country and has been for about 6 years.
When they were given independance and seperated from Indonesia, there was a big celebration! But soon after that Indonesia attacked East Timor due to Government fights and a lot was destroyed.
They are now trying to reconstruct the country.
Every year on the last day of  school most year 12′s have muck-up day followed by schoolies ( which has a bad reputation) and party. But these group of girls had a totally different way of celebrating!
14 or so past year 12 students flew down to East Timor during their schoolies week to help reconstruct the poor sick people because they also had no electricity, but they did have generators that kept breaking down and no plumbing so they had to get the water themselves from the rivers! Seriously  imagine if you were only three and had to carry litres of water and sleep in the pitch black all the time!
The budget was $100,000 for what they had done to help and the girls had raised it all!
It was a great success and i will definetly consider doing that for my schoolies week if they are still in need!

Bushfire Disasters.

Last week was very frightening, heartbreaking and devastating! The fires have accured in Victoria and I personally say that is has woken people up to the real world and the harm it can do. The current death poll is 200 lives dead, but police are certain it will rise. The main fires were at King Lake, Mearrysville, Wilson’s Prom, Horsham, Bendigo, Churchville and now Healsville. The fire tempreture has risen to 1400 degrees once and 10 billion liters of water was used to put out the fires. Therefore millions of dollars were spent! There are so manypeople to thank and respect from all their donations, courage, hardwork and braveness!

Now there has been a person caught (which name is unknown), that started a fire by lighting a cigarette in Churchville! On the other hand all of the survivors are accomadating in tents at their local sports grounds, which was set up by the army. The only thought i have is that people don’t have enough room from what everyone is giving, because they are only living in tents. Plus when they will try to get a permanent home in a year from now and they would of spent all of the money and no one would care!

But i now in the future people will have better communication and burns will be controlled!
