Should the fashion industry be forced to use the new body image code?

When you walk past the newsagents and see the Women’s Day magazine and see those skinny pretty girls, what do you think, do you think that you want to look like them? Well soon you won’t because the government is trying to enforce new rules about Magazines/Airbrushing of the models used in the magazines.

 You might think that those girls are perfect but what you are really seeing is as sham!! The models in those magazines don’t really look like that in reality, its called airbrush and it is used all the time in magazines and modelling agencies. But now someone is trying to change that! Her name is Sarah Murdoch and recently she was seen on the cover of Women’s Weekly left untouched by digital technology.

She says to the media that she is happy with her body and so should everyone else. She is trying to make a difference to the lives of young models by saying that it is alright to be seen on magazines without airbrush and to be yourself and look natural. The readers of Women’s weekly say that it was a good idea to go untouched and that she looks new and fresh faced!

So I think that the young models around the world should think like Sarah Murdoch!

The Mimicing Bird.

Recently in the Adelaide zoo were builders are busilly working on a huge encloser for the arrival of the new Chinese Panda’s, there is claning and bangging everywhere and all the animals colse by are listnening to the new sounds.

But while the workers are drilling there drills and nailing in nails the close by Lyer Bird is learning how to mimic the sounds of the drills and hamers. As soon as the workers put down their tools the sound keeps on going, as the Lyer bird has learnt to mimic the sounds.

This has astounded the birds keepers!!!

These AMAZING creatures are only found on the East Coast of Australia and Tazmania. But you dont have to go on a road trip to admire these beautiful animals, you can just look at a 10 cent peice.

But if you are keen on seeing the lyer bird do his thing you are going to have to wait until next April as they only mimic sounds juring matting sesson which ends at the start of September to attract a femals!!!!

Digital Tv

There is now a new type of tv, even though it has been around for years now, It has become even more important.Because now you have to change your anologe tv to digital. If you don’t want to spend the extra money buying a completly new digital tv then you can buy a set top box.

A set top box is is a digital ready box that you place on top of your tv and connect it to your tv   to change the signal to digital.

When you get a digital tv you are open to so many more chanles such as ABC has now got a new chanle called ABC 2 & suposably at the end of the year there will be a new chanle just for kids! Chanle 10 has got a new chanle called 1 HD which is a high defonition chanle based on sport.Chanle 7 also has a HD chanle it is called 7 HD  which is just the same as there other chanle but in HD.

The gouvernment says that if you haven’t got a digital tv or set top box by 2013 you wont be able to watch tv!!

Asylum Seekers

What was the main point of the BTN story?

  1. An asylum seeker is not necessarily a  bad person, many are just innocent people who have difficult lives in their own country! Some have been beaten or even seen loved ones or friends beaten to death.

   Who is a refugee?

     2. A refugee is another name for an asylum seeker. A refugee applies for a visa and then comes rather than a asylum seeker comes and then applies for a visa.

What is the Australian Government’s policy on refugees?

     3. The governments policy is that when a refugee decides they want to apply for a visa that they the have to go on a waiting list to be accepted into the country. In some cases they will not be accepted into the country.

Who is an asylum seeker?

     4. An asylum seeker is someone who is escaping their country because of extreme difficulty and seeking help and a new life in a new country, in many cases that country is Australia.

What does “asylum” mean?

  5. Asylum means safe place so asylum seekers are looking for a safe place to live in another country.

How are asylum seekers protected by international law?

   6. asylum seekers are protected by international law because they should be given temporarilya safe place to live and food while their claim is being investigated by the host country.

What can happen is the government decides that an asylum seeker is not a genuine refugee?

   7. If a refugee is not what they say they are or not what they say they are here for then they can be sent home by plane, some only to arrive and be shot or beaten for leaving illegally.

What are people smugglers?

  8. People smugglers are people who transfer people illegally and charge them money for it.

Describe recent events in Australia involving people smugglers and asylum seekers?

   9. Recently on the news there has been a boat of asylum seekers sailing in from Indonesia carrying over 100 asylum seekers, just on the border of Australian waters there was an explsion on the boat causing a fire that killed and burned many of the asylum seekers, Many of the injured were flowen to the Australian hospitals.

What do you think should happen next?

   10. I think that each asylum seekers claim and opinion should be considered and if they are not aloud to come in to the counrty that they are safley flown home!

 

Shark Attacks

In the last three – four months there has been many shark attacks around the states. People are suggeting that sharks should be culled.

In Tasmania a young girl and her board was bitten by a Great Whtie Shark!! Her cousin Syb had to paddle out pull her onto his board and paddle to the shore and at the same time fight the shark for there lives.As the reached the shore air ambulences were already there and in no time at all she was on her way to hospitaL, were she  recived 200 stiches on her right leg. 

Locals immediantly put out a search to find the shark that attacked Hanna. Some people belive that this shark is a danger to the public and that sharks should be culled for there troubles, others including Hanna say that it should be left alone becasue she was invading its space.

I am definatly against sharke being culled especialy in this case because as Hanna said she was in its teritory!!

Bushfire Disaster.

Last week was a devastating week in Victoria, we had over seven major fires burning around the stsate. Death tolls have reached 180 and CFA chiefs are expecting it to rise.Families have lost everything in these fires, but people all around Victoria are making donations of clothes and money. Already three warehouses have been filled with clothes . The public has already dontated millions of dollars and are still checking their pockets for any more money.Terrible stories are being passed around everywhere but here is one that reached news headlines. One mother and her two children heard that a fire was headed their way but they decided to stay and fight for there home not knowing that tempretures of the fire were reaching 1400c and that the blaze was going to be over 5-6 mtrs tall. So as they were inside the house with the sprinkelers on  out in the backyard , they the fire to pass over , but after 15 minutes it started to get hot so the mum and the two kids ran outside two see what was happening what they ran out to was a sky full of orange they had no where to go, they couldnt leave now so they decided to hop in the water tank which people say was a dumb idea because the water would just boil up and they would burn alive. Also on the news the man who lit the Church Hill fires  has been caught and is no being questioned. The goverment has made a proposal that for the futre there will be better information and better ways to get it such as they will send it to your phone and email.Also the guverment is quetioning whether if there is a fire warning will people be aloud to stay at there homes or whether they will all have to be evacuated?
