Chook the Lyrebird

Recently at the Adilade Zoo theres been some construction going on for Wang-wang and Funi’s arival in October. Among all this noise lies a lyre bird called chook he may look quiet but wait until the workers are on a brake the  the noise of  construction will still be going on because of this inoccent animal. Its learnt to make noises like a drill, a bulldozer starting, a hammer and a whole lot of other construction site noises. Another amazing thing about this bird it can also mimic the sounds of other birds.

Youre probaly thinking why he is doing this. We think he is looking for a mate and while doing this scaring off other males and animals. As well as these amazing noises he also has beatiful feathers but he cant fly actuly no lyre birds can fly. But they can run they can run really fast actully if you could keep up with them youre the next usane bolt. Another amazing thing about this bird it can dance amazingly remering this is another way to atract a female. This poor bird is thirty years old and there avrage age is 60 and he still has not found a mate.Theres one more place you can find this bird and that is on a 10 cent coin.

Oil spill

Last week an oil spill occurred off the coasts of Queensland due to Cyclone Hamish’s passing by a few days before that which caused tremendous waves. There were still a lot of tremendous waves after hamish had passed and at that time is when the pacific adventurerwas going to drop off some fretaliza at singapore. Now back to the oil spill it was caused by many containers from the ship to fall off the edge one of them hit the side a hole in the side of the ship.

Much of the oil spred overa radius of 60 kilometers across the coast of Queensland. now the thick gooey sludge has coverd not only the beach it has also covered animals.

most of the marine wildlife got affected by the oil covering them. not only marine animals got affected also bird wildlife got affected. the problem with that is the oil washes out a special oil that keeps them afloat and dry.so if the oil got washed out they will sink in the water.

Volenteers are using machinery and man power to clean up the gooey mess.the oil wasnt normal crude oil it was mor sticky toxic and flamible.

i believe they should pay enough mone to clean up the whole mess. as for the captian he should have taken a look at his radar and turnned away from the big waves into a calmer area or he should have not gone in the first place.

Drownings

over the past few weeks there have been many drownings around australia due to people not obaying rules or not reconizing strong currents. 50 people have died and 1500 every year. talking about deaths and strong currents its the rip that usally catches people out most people dont reconize what a rip looks like so heres a pic of one

you see how calm it looks thats what people get fooled by most people just say OOO! look a nice calm spot and run and jump into the water and get swept away out to sea. heres another tip dont struggle or try swim against it cause it is stronger than a olympiuc swimmer.

so when your going for a swim on the beach watch out for strong currents and try and stay imbetween the flags.

thank you.

Shark Attack

Recently people have been attacked by sharks more than often. Just a few days ago a thirteen year old tasmanian girl named hanna had a close encounter with a gret white sharkbut she managed to escape with the help of her cousin by bashing the shark in the face. She only had to have two hunderd stiches on her leg.

Also around the time of her encounter an navy diver had his hand ripped off by a bull shark in Sydney harbour. But even thought they were nearly killed by the sharks they dont want them to be killed because they say that they were in the sharks territory.

Recently several shark attacks have taken place. The hot spots for shark attacks is sydney tasmania and perth. It was the first attack in eighty years in bondi beach. According to experts it is more likely to be killed by a household pet.

Even though hanna and the navy diver almost got killed by sharks they didnt want the sharks killed. So if you vote on the poll for sharks to be culled think about what hanna and the diver said.
