Sport funding

Today on BTN they were talking about sport funding. They said that 80% of sport money goes to Olympic sport. So people that do Olympic sport get a lot more money the people that do sport like football, tennis, golf, cricket football and basketball don’t get as much money but there is more population for football basketball. Yet the government gives the Olympic sports more money than non Olympic sports.

Some people think it is good because in 1976 Australia got 0 medals so they are putting in more money so they will be more successful and to make Australia more popular. Some people also think it is bad because they’re putting too much money into Olympics sports and they’re not putting any money in sports like football and basketball.

I think the government should give popular sports more money because they have put so much money into Olympic sports. So if they put more money into popular sports they might put bigger sports grounds in so they can even fit more people in to see a game of sport so what do you think they should do?

Aboriginal Language

Aboriginal Language

  A small school in northern territory has just been told that they can only talk their own Aboriginal language for only one hour at school a day and English for four hours a day. Also an interesting fact about the aboriginal language there used to be 250 different aboriginal languages.

The government has made this law because they are worried that they are not going to be good at English in the future.

Some of the people aren’t happy because they are worried that in the future there language might disappear and some of the teachers aren’t good at English so they might lose their jobs. Also some think it will be ok because they will get better at their English and they will still get to talk in their normal language after school for the rest of the day.

It will also take a lot of time to get used to the new way of school. So do you think it was a good idea?

REMEMBRANCE DAY

Remembrance day is a day to remember the people and animal who fought for our country in war.

In war animals had a major part to help our country. Some of the animals sent messages to other solders and warned them if and introder was coming. Also they shared love and friend ship. Alot of them died to help our country.

Some of the animals were Dogs,Cats,Birds,Horses and Glow Worms.You might ask how would a glow worm help? Well they glow in the dark so that the solders could read important messages.Horses helped carry big heavy stuff over long distances. So you can see they played a major part in war So tomorrow when you have a minute silence just rememer all the brave people and animals  who helped our country.

BOTTLED WATER

One of the most important things your body needs is water. Your body is made up of 60% water that is alot. The brain is 70% water,lungs are 80% water,bones are 20% water and blood is more than 80% so we all have to drink alot of water to keep our bodies hydrated. Water also controls our body temperature and without it we would die, but a town in NSW  has decided to drink no water from bottles, why?

If we keep using plastic bottles it is alot of waste that  just gets put into a hole in the ground. They are trying to say it is a better idea to get a drink from a tap or put water in a drinking bottle that you can reuse.Last year Australians spent half a billion dollars on bottled water.

Precious resources like oil are used to make plastic, to make every one litre bottle of water 200mls of oil is used up. It also costs a lot of money and it is bad for the environment.

I think we should still be able to have a water bottle but try to reuse them instead of buying new ones. Taking away the choice of water in bottles means that shoppers will only buy sugary drinks which are bad for you. Bottled water is important during natural disasters like bushfires or floods when other water becomes contaminated.  

If they stop having water bottles they will need to put in more drinking taps all over the place and this will cost a lot of money. What do you think they should do? …..

QUEENSLAND FLOODS

In south Queensland and northern NSW there have been floods and alot of rain. There have been cars in the ocean,landslides and some people have had to been reused. The bad thing is that there was alot of peoples homes have been flooded and there has even been deth. So alot of people are devastated and don’t know what to do so they are really scared.But the great thing about the flood is that the worst drott in Queensland  history is finally over but there is hips of cleaning up to do.Plus the drott had lasted for alot of years.But some people are wondering where the water is going.I think most of the water is going down the drane or going into the sea but it would be going on the grass. But know one is quit shore. 

  

CRICKET ATTACK

Last Tuesday the Pakistan cricket team were attacked several cricketers suffered injuries and five police were killed. Australia are now deciding whether to go and play there for the test. Some of the people will be scared and some cricket teams will not be sure whether  to play there any more. I think some people will be very sad because there might not be any more cricket games there. Some people think it was terrorists from Afghanistan I hope they  find them fast.

KINGLAKE STUDENTS AND ANIMALS

Some students from Kinglake School had a talk about what had happened to their families and their homes. One of the boy’s houses caught on fire and they went from house to house and they were saved by going under ground.  Another boy stayed in a car and was saved and he said the glass was as hot as hot. A girl lost her home and now she is living with her friend and enjoying life.

Some people have been finding Wombats, Possums, Koalas and other animals in bad condition. They have been doing there best to save the animals, they say they might go back home in a year or two. They are getting stronger and are looking forward to going back home.

Shark Attack

There was a shark attack in Tasmania and a girl named Hannah was surfing and the shark pulled her under and she kicked and punched it. Her cousin was there and helped her. Hannah the girl had two hundred stitches and it was a great white shark that attacked her. Some people think they should kill some of the sharks because there have been alot of shark attacks lately. But some people think it is not a good idea because they are just the same as us because they have to eat to live. We eat more sharks than they eat people.
