Forgotten Australian’s

There is a group of people that are called the forgotten Australian’s. What happened to these people when they were young was they were put in orphanages, some of the time the kids weren’t orphans their parents didn’t want to or couldn’t look after the kids so they were just put in orphanages.

Some children from Britten were sent to the orphanages in Australia because their family thought that they would have a better life here and some just didn’t want to look after the kids. The kids were lied to and they were abused. They will always remember their childhoods even though they will not want to think or remember their childhoods because they weren’t the best they could have had. If they have kids of their own they probably won’t treat them how they were treated but they might not know how to treat them properly and how to raise them.

Kevin Rudd gathered most of the people that suffered together to make a public apologue on behalf of Australia. A lot of people think that the people that suffered should get compensation but they haven’t got any money instead Kevin Rudd has organised for them to get someone that can find their relatives so they can be reunited with them. Being reunited with your relatives has to be better than money because you have family that you can spend time with and talk to.

California School

Schools in California people think are the same as they are in the movies which is wrong. Although some of the things are the same such as: some get free dress and they have cafeterias that they eat lunch in. The movies that the get these ideas from are all different ones, one of them is High School Musical but there not like the movies in a lot of ways. They do a lot of the same classes as we do and some of the sports we do too. One of the sports that is similar is footy it’s similar but different. In California more people do cheerleading than they do in Australia.

They start the school year in September and finish in June. When we are going into winter they are going into summer. Some of the activities they do are different or more popular than they are in Australia. Cheerleading is more popular California than it is here, they play footy but it is slightly different to our version of it.

School is basically the same in California as it is here they have most of the same classes as they do here the school that was the main feature on BTN had nutrition instead of recess. For lunch they use the cafeterias for lunch and this school gets a barbeque lunch some of the time. Some of the kids said: ‘It’s like your break but at the second period.’
‘We have all kinds of food.’ ‘Pizza, chips anything a kid wants.’

Some of the kids like living in California because they see the places where they live and then they are excited because there are pictures where they live in the magazines. The students also like to see the stars and they get to school and would probably like telling their friends who they saw. The kids would act like we would act if saw a star or if are street was in a magazines.

World War One/Armistice Day

What is the date of Remembrance Day and why do we have it? On the 11th day of the 11th month of the 11th hour (11th November) there is Remembrance Day to help us remember the soldiers that fought in World War One that’s also what the minute silence is for. Is it true Remembrance day used to be called Armistice Day? Remembrance Day was known as Armistice Day because that is the name of the peace agreement that was signed in World War One so that it was over. Why is it the 11th day of the 11th month of the 11th hour? It’s the 11th day of the 11th month of the 11th hour because on that date the armistice was signed and World War One was over.

Why do people say that animals went to World War One because it’s not like they can fight? Animals did go to World War One they didn’t fight but they did transfer messages from one place to another, found bombs and smelt the enemies from further away and warned the soldiers, made good companions and helped to transfer equipment from one place to another. What animals were in World War One? There were: donkeys, mules, camels, glow worms, pigeons, dogs, horses and even a cat went. How were glow worms a help in war? Glow worms were like a torch but you wouldn’t need batteries. Is there like a medal for animals? Yes there is a medal for animals it is called the Dickin medal which is the equivalent of the Victoria Cross but for animals. What was one of the animals that got it? Deedee the pigeon after being released from a sinking ship in a tropical storm and getting help.

What is Simon’s story? Who Simon the cat? Hey I thought I was the one asking the questions here? Oh shut up and answer my question! YES, who else! Ok now Simon’s story goes like this. Hurry it up already! Ok ok. Simon’s ship was held captive for a hundred days by the Chinese and Simon killed all the rats so that the rats couldn’t eat the crew’s food. Simon also got awarded the Dickin medal.

Do you think that animals should be used in wars? Yes because they are good companions and can help a lot in the war.

Uluru Uproar

Do you know if Kevin Rudd gave ownership of Uluru to the indigenous people? Well I’m pretty sure when Kevin Rudd apologized to the indigenous people he also gave ownership of Uluru to them too. The indigenous people are now fuming because they want to preserve the paintings that their ancestors wrote centuries ago they also want to look after Uluru for spiritual reasons. I reckon they should let a certain number of people climb Uluru a day and only from 5am-10am, this would mean that everyone has to be off Uluru by 10am and the indigenous people get it from 10am-5am . Back to Kevin Rudd, at the end of the day Kevin Rudd and the government get the final say if people are still allowed to climb Uluru. Is this fair? I don’t think so because Kevin Rudd gave ownership of Uluru to the indigenous people so they should decide. What do you think and why?

On BTN today they said both sides of the argument have 2 months and then the government will decide if you will still be allowed to climb Uluru or not. The indigenous people have lived around Uluru and on Uluru for centuries. Uluru is located in the northern Territory. If you do want to climb Uluru you might want to go do that now just in case they do close it. Uluru is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Australia and closing Uluru will have a big impact on the amount of people going to the Northern Territory, so hopefully everyone gets a chance to climb Uluru because it would have a great view! Some tourists will just take pictures of Uluru so not everyone climbs Uluru, because some don’t have the strength.

OVERSEAS LAWS!

WOW I just came to Thailand for a holiday with my friends the police here can’t take a joke. My friends only took the bar mat & put it in my bag as a joke big deal! Okay I said sorry can I go back home now I don’t want to be in prison I want to see my lovely daughters. After few horrible days I was let out & able to go home. I’m never going back to Thailand that’s for sure.

Most people would research & know what there are laws are for the country they go to & know what would be offensive to that country, its people & government. Here we would expect from visitors from overseas to respect our laws & the ways of living here. It’s important to research the placed, country you’re going to because if you don’t you could offend the people & government of that country & you could get in serious trouble my first paragraph was an example.

Annice Smol got in trouble in Thailand recently because she stole a bar mat the Thai police say & she abused some of the police. Her daughters just wanted their mother home because they had been away from her for quite awhile & missed her very much & wouldn’t have liked the way people were talking about their Mum. Did you know if you stole during the day it’s a lighter punishment then if you stole during the night, the maximum penalty is 2-5 years in jail.

The Australian government has helped people when they go away & they’re stuck they can call the Australian Embassy for help. People that are traveling to Australia should obey these rules it is illegal to take or sell drugs unless doctors have prescribed them for you. It’s not okay to hurt or kill anyone. If you want more information go to http://www.australia.gov.au/ I believe that if you go to a different country you should respect them which means don’t bag their culture, don’t do stuff that is illegal over there & don’t be mean, be nice and friendly. My opinion is that you shouldn’t play jokes in any country because they might not think it’s a joke & take it serious.

Unemployment

Unemployment in Australia is a big issue because instead of having Australian made things they are getting China and other countries that will make it for less however they might be saving money but people are losing their jobs because of this. People lose their jobs every year no matter what.

A lot of people are getting sacked because companies are getting their Australian made products in China and other countries that will make it for a lot less, because of this their workers are getting sacked. Did you know that only last month around about 47000 people lost their jobs.

Companies like Bonds and other companies like it are the ones that are sacking most of their employees because of getting other places to make it for them much much cheaper. The people that have been sacked are going on strike because they lost their jobs. They are losing their income too.

People need their income so they can pay bills, mortgae, buy food, clothes and other stuff they would normaly buy. Their is going to be a bigger issue with the Australian economy then there already is.

People that have bigger incomes mainly work harder because they are white colar workers but the blue colar workers have smaller incomes because they have different types of jobs. The white colar workers are having to pay more taxes while the goverment is giving it to the blue colar workers.

Drowning Danger

Do you know what a rip is? Well people die from them every year because they don’t know what to do and they start to panic! It’s really important that you know what to do if you’re caught and there’s no one to help you. Okay I wll tell you what to do later on.

Did you ever think about how many deaths happen because of rips? Well around 50 deaths happen a year because of rips and 15000 people have to get rescued because of rips. Most beach girls don’t know one thing about rips so they get caught in them and need help.

Rips are when the sea when waves breakandwater is pushed towards the beach and gets piledup on the shore the way it gets back to sea is it goes back along narrow channels of water. The water is churned up because it’s going in a different way to the waves and it’s deeper so the water is darker.

WARNING, WARNING, if you ever get caught in a rip heres what not to do don’t panic okay this is what you should do, swim diagonally  to the side but not to shore because it will be really hard for you because it wants to go out to sea or let it carry you out then when the rip stops swim to the side and then back to shore or stay where you are and wave and yell out for help so then someone can help you.

Schoolies Week

At the end of year when year twelves celebrate schoolies week during this time the year twelves get together with friends and go to parties, get drunk and some get arested.

Some year twelves instead of partying and that went to East Timor andc helped rebuild the towns and help the people. The year twelves loved helping and had a gret time. The organisers of the event thought it was such a success that they are planning to do it again.

I think its a great idea because they can help people and they won’t get drunkand all that. It will also  be a new experience for the ones that do it.

When I’m in year twelve I hope they have opportunies like this for my friends and I can help , I hope more people take these opportunities to help and stay out of trouble in the future.
