The Sri Lankan cricket team one of the morld best cricket team was attacked in Pakistan which resulted in Thilan Samaraweera and Tharanga Paranavitana being hospitalised. The captain Mahela Jayawardene, vice-captain Kumar Sangakkara, Ajantha Mendis, Suranka Lakmal and Chaminda Vaas suffered not so serious injuries but still five police were killed in the attack. There are roumers that say there could be no more international cricket in Pakistan.

The well armed men attacked the Sri Lankans on the way to the 3rd day in the first test in Lahore. the rest of the test series was not played due to security and safety issues. This is said to be anplanned terrorist attack. a few teams have recently refused to tour Pakistan due to security issues and last year’s ICC Champions Trophy was postponed over some similler similar concernes. the Sri Lanka were only in Pakistan after India had been banned by the government from touring the country following the Mumbai terrorist attacks in November 08.

I hope the cricket will return to Pakistan soon and I hope the Sri Lankan cricket team will recover rapidly so the cricket can continue.

The terrible bushfires that raged through Victoria on Black Saturday are still burning and there have been over 30 bushfires in the state. Including one at Wilsons Prom that caused our school camp to be relocated to Inverloch. Currently there are some very small fires near Dromana/Rosebud area.

Since Black Saturday there have been over 200 people dead and around 1.2 million animals killed including Koalas, Cows, Sheep, Kangaroos and many many more. There have been more than 2000 houses burnt to the ground and alot of shops too. Some towns such as Marysville have been completely burnt with only a bakery and 3 houses are left.

A lot of people need shelter and food and clothes and of course money and the people of Victoria have raised over $100 000 000 to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
