Swine Flu is a Flu that you would have heard on the news a lot lately. This flu originated from pigs, next that pig caught the bird flu, which combined the two, finally the same pig caught the human flu, which combined the bird/pig/human flu’s creating the deadly Swine Flu!

This Flu’s outbreak started in Mexico City, obviously in Mexico. It started there because of all the livestock that farmers own. Next up the flu spread to America, followed by more countries. One of the reasons why the flu is so dangerous, is because we have not built up immunity for this flu. Schools and other big social events where lots of people gather are closed, people are suffering from this flu which is worldwide. 

The Flu has no confirmed cases in Australia, so currently we are fairly safe. They are also inserting thermal cameras in airports, and Kevin Rudd told us to “regularly wash hands with soap,” which is actually a really good tip. Some countries are reacting by killing all of the pigs in the country.

I think that those countries have got the wrong idea. I also think that our response is the right idea, and this time I think we are correct.

Mozzie The Terrorist

Look around you, you should see at least one person who was born overseas or has relatives that were. That is because of immigration. Immigration is normally a good thing, but Kevin Rudd says, “NO.”

The good things about immigration are that one, Australias population goes up and also people from other countries will see their kin over in Australia, meaning more family groups coming over. Secondly immigrants will buy things that Aussies may not, that means shops will need more employees. Thus leading to a better economy. But the economy is also the reason for chopping migrants.

The main reason for Australia to let in immigrants is that some are, “skilled migrants.” About 10 years ago Australias economy was BOOMING and we needed people to fill in all the spare jobs, but now because of the massive economy crisis, we are letting in less skilled migrants.

I think that one, this is a problem because less migrants will come meaning, less people creating jobs and giving more work. This will also lead to higher unemployment levels. Because of that I think that the one solution is to forget the chop and get on the job.

Mozzie The Terrorist

People mostly in the Queensland area are in danger of a disease called Dengue Fever. This fever is caused by an unlikely foe …….. MOZZIES!!!!!

There is about 300 different types of mozzies in Australia but, the mozzie that that causes Dengue is the Aagis Aegypti, nicknamed the “Dengue Mozzie.”This is like the mosquitos “Most Wanted.”

The fever has symtoms such as sore joints, this is why it is nicknamed “Breakbone Fever.” Most people are “Hit” because you cannot hear this mozzie. It lives in QLD because of the humid environment. 600 people since christmas 2008 have had cases of Dengue, but most have recovered. But some unlucky people have had to go to hospital, and most were kids and elders. But that was rare.

I think that they should keep working on the injection for Dengue prevention,Or it could become like the Flu. I hope that does not happen.

Pacific Brands is going Chinese! If you don’t know, Pacific Brands owns brands such as, Bonds, Clarks and Hard Yakka. That will cause job losses meaning a lot more poor people.

The reason is, the type of country. Australia is a consuming country, whereas China is a producing country. Pacific Brands say that they have to do it, because it allows them to survive and compete with other foreign brands. On the other hand there is a ton of poor people in China that badly need money. If Pacific Brands move, it will create more jobs to combat Chinese poverty. As well as that their clothes in Australia will be cheaper and remain affordable to more Australians. The down side to that is about 2000 aussies will lose their jobs, making the economy worse.

I think that they should not move to China. Firstly it will make the economy worse. Secondly about 2000 Aussies will lose their jobs. If they stay, it is okay, if they go Australia will suffer.

On the BtN this week, there was a story about orang-s. Their forests and homes are being cut down, and their food taken away. In its place is palm oil, used a lot in supermarket foods and drinks.

The cause of this near extinction crisis is … humans. It is not a natural disaster, but a human one. So we are the only thing/object to blame. 100 000′s of hectares of trees are being cut down for human comforts. Palm oil is being collected for human food. They may be the islands of Sumatra, Borneo and Sulawesi’s money “MAKING” area, but they are hurting wildlife.

I think that humans should leave them alone and let them repopulate. We have a whole world to find the same sort of forest, but not endangering wildlife. If we leave them alone and they increase in numbers, the islands have a trade in zoos. These countries may need money, but I think orang-utans need it more!!!
