Its a tragedy acid can kill stuff such as coral and fish ! Which is exactly what it is doing. Carbonic dioxide is causing this. Carbonic dioxide is made because of us we pollute the area and most of it is coming from the smoke stacks  if you have seen them you will know what i mean but if you you havent they are big circular things that puff out white or black smoke. They are terrible for the enviroment.

     The Great Barrier Reef is being effected by the acid and it can ruin The Great Barrier Reef with its coral and fish the acid can make the fish die and the coral can possibly lose all of it fantastic colour.  That would be absolutly and utterly tragic . Since The Great Barrier Reef is the largest living thing and coral is the seventh natural wonder in the world.

     Carbonic dioxide can make something else which is terrible carbon dioxide . For example when a big wave goes up it can pull the carbonic dioxide with it and when they mix they make carbon dioxide which can kill fish and coral and we dont even realize this.

     I think that it is a horrible thing that is happening all around us and if we dont stop polluting .In another few years the Barrier Reef could become colourless and boring. So i think we should stop polluting so much , stop using cars a large amount , turn off light whenever you dont need them and stop using so much electricity .

           Oil  spills are terrible for the environment people and pretty much everything because they can give us diseases , kill you and ruin the environment. Oil pollutes everything and also covers everything. Oil is made out of crude oil.

          There is one that has happened at Queensland recently. It was caused by Cyclone Hamish nothing to bad happened except for one boat that wasn’t so  lucky. The Pacific Adventurer  got hit bye a very strong wave causing a big hole in the side of the ship. The Pacific Adventurer lost 20,000 litres of oil which has covered 60 kilometers of the beach & ocean. It has been called the worst environmental disaster in Australia.

          Lots of birds and sea animals have been covered in the oil & thankfully quite a few people have started helping clean the beach & animals off. The captain will be fined half a million .

    Lots of people have died from a trip to the beach and everyone thinks it’s the sharks. Though its actually rips! Rips are things that if you get caught in one it carries you out for awhile. Do not try to swim against it because you will eventually get tired and you could possibly drown. Also rips are faster than an Olympic swimmer. So if you get in one don’t swim against wait until it stops and catch a wave or swim back to shore.

    There are usually at least fifty deaths each year and five thousand have to be rescued from these terrible things. About seventy thousand rips are on Victorian beaches each year.

    Also if the water is darker than the rest of the beach its usually a rip. If its calm everywhere and then there is a spot where its quite choppy that will also usually mean there is a rip there.

So I think we should all check the beach and safety first before going in.

Most animals have been terribly affected by the bush fires. About ten thousand animals have died so far because of the ferocious bush fires. Some have been burned and some were plain lucky to escape from the fires. The fires have burned so many forests it will take at least a year for the forests to be alright for the animals to live in again.

       Healesville Sanctuary have been trying as hard as they possibly can to help all the animals. Some of the animals are badly burnt  so its very hard to treat them.  They have to put the animals to sleep and carefully change the bandages.

  So when the animals go back in about a year they will be used to being fed and not having to find food for themselves, so it will be very hard to get used to again.

   Squeak, a sugar glider, had stared and had a lot of burns and problems with his claws. Though Squeak isn’t the only one.

It is a very sad thing but everything will be alright.
