Asylum Seekers

The government are letting a certain amount of refugees into Australia a year, but first the government must interview them. The governmentcatches and interviews Asylum seekers who in short are illegal refugees.

Asylum means safe place so Asylum seekers mean safe place seekers. People smugglers are the vilest form of human life and will rot in jail if caught.

Many Asylum seekers come because of danger in their country. Many come from Bali because it is extremly dangerous.

Water Harvesting

Victoria is in a drought stage. But most of the water we need is going down the drain, that’s BILLIONS of litres of water going down the drain a year.

The government is encouraging councils to recycle storm water. The government is giving $200,000,000 to set up more storm water recycle plants.

In the estates with recycled water, the houses have two pipes, one for drinking and the other (the purple one) for washing cars, watering plants and the bonus is recycled water is cheaper than regular water!

For a recycled storm water system, the drainage water needs to be cleaned and then filtered. It first goes into wetlands and the sunlight gets rid of bacteria, the mud gets rid of metals, and the reeds get rid of nutrients. The water then goes to an aquifer (an underground lake) which has rocks and sand that filters the water. The water then goes to the purple pipes which are connected to each house.

Acid Oceans

Carbon Dioxide affectsthe ocean as well as global warming. But the carbon dioxide can’t push through the water but the waves push it down into the and turns it into carbonic acid.

The carbonic acid weakens the coral and goes into the plankton which krill eat who whales and other animals eat so they might all die.

The Great Barrier Reef is in danger from the carbonic acid. The acid makes the coral and fish lose their colour, it is called bleaching. The coral is very but when the carbonic acid touches the coral the coral crumbles away to nothing.

Cattle Camp

Howdy. Kids are going on a cattle camp, the kids there are having a great time but there is a problem. The problem is that there isn’t enough kids that are going to be farmers when they are older, so the people in charge are trying to get more kids to go to the cattle camp.

So far there are 150 kids going on this cattle road trip so we know the people in charge are succeeding in their challenge. The kids are between 5 and 24 years old.

They don’t need that many grown ups because the seniors are buddying the juniors. The kids each have 1 cow to look after because there are cow shows and that is a very big part of the camp. The kids job is to make sure their cow has eaten and has drank enough water.

Kid Olympics

Kids Olympics!

There is a new type of Olympics for kids who are 15-16 years old to participate in.

These Olympics are to prepare them for the real Olympics when they are old enough to compete.

There were over 600 kids in the 5th Kids Olympics in the year 2000. They got to stay in the real Olympic Village.

The kids had a real medal ceremony and Australian Kids won 266 Medals.

The kids had to have drug tests to see if they have taken drugs that make you run faster, jump higher or throw further.
