Rabbits have been a pest in Australia for over 100 years and are breeding fast.

How fast? The answer is very fast. 1 pair of rabbits can turn into 184 after just 1 month!!! They were first introduced to Australia by English game hunters who found them as good targets. But the problem is not enough were shot and they breed to quickly. Why is this bad you may ask. Well its bad because they eat native plants and carry rare diseases. So instead of shooting the rabbits they decided to infect them with a disease called Nyxamatopis. This disease only affects rabbits and wiped out the population by nearly 80%! But now they are coming back and breeding fast, so don’t see a rabit as a good thing when this cute animal is our worst feral animal.

This new invention called marrema’s is a great invention that will hopefully be able to help lots of dying species.

This idea was started on a farm where a man uses his dogs to scare the foxes away from his chickens. It has now been used as a way to keep the foxes away from the penguins on an island called Middle Island. People aren’t sure why the penguins chose to breed there because with the steep cliffs and the boundiful number of foxes this place is pretty much a deathzone for them. In 2005 the population was 4, they were very close to extinction but then they brought in maremma’s and since then the population has grown to 80 with 20 chicks!

Well i think this is great news for the penguins and especially good news for consrevationests because hopefully they will be able to use these dogs to help other birds and animals.

Unemployment is when someone is forced out of their job and currently don’t have one.

Right now unemployment is at a dead low, the biggest unemployment rate of 15-19 year olds since 2001! If you want to know the exact amount i’ll tell you %5.2! Your probably thinking so what? Why does it matter? Well it matters because if they don’t earn any money than the family suffers, causes not enough money to spend so local stores can go out of business too! Well do these people end up on the street? The answer is no, maybe in other country’s but in Australiawe have Centrelink, this is a business that supplies people with money whale they’re still looking for jobs.

Most of this accurs because the business isn’t making enough money and needs to move to china or poorer country’s where they can pay their workers less. This means more profit for the company. I think that its unfair and that the companies should stay in Australia and not leave all these people without jobs.

Oil spills are a tragedy that affect humans and animals. They need to be stopped so we have to try to do what we can to prevent them.

Recently a large oil tanker carrying 141 barrels of chemicals and oil was spilt and had an oil leak. Out of those 141 barrels 31 were spilt covering 60 kms of coast line! Why is this so bad?, your probably thinking, well its because oil floats blocking out the air for fish causing them to drown, it can also poison birds who eat the fish and it ruins the birds feathers making them uncapable of flying. But the worst part is that oil is made from cruid oil. The government is doing waht it can to clean up this mess sending volenteers from alot of places to help. The company responsible for this was fined 1.5 million dollars, along with the 500 000 dollars to clean it up.

What i think should happen is that oil tankers and ships should only be able to transport oil when it is calm seas and not over windy stormy waves.

Rips, these natural disasters can be stopped, we just need to learn more about them.

Each year rips cause 50 deaths and over 15000 rescues. The deaths are not caused by the rips themselves its by the victims who struggle against the rip, loose all thier energy and can’t swim anymore causing them to drown. But if you are caught in a rip let it take you out then swim to the side. Rips move faster than our Olympic swimmers! The east way to know where a rip is, is to check where there are no waves and you’ve found your rip! Most swimmers think they have found the perfect spot where there are no waves then get sucked out, panik, and drown. Be careful because 17000 rips exist on aussie beaches at any time

I think all this could be prevented if people stayed between the flags and follewed the safety instructions!

Orangu-tangs, they are a calm gentle creature that are on the verge to extinction and need our help!

Despite their cuteness, 100s of millions of acres of thier homes are destroyed every year. Because the oils found inside the trees the orangu-tangs live in makes good profit. Most adult Orangu-tangs baby thier kids until thier 8 years old and thought to be self-independent and the average armspan for a adult Orangu-tang is 2 metres! Scientists say with thier hand-like feet they are one of our closest relatives.

My oppinion is that we should stop cutting down thier homes and replant the trees back with new ones. So if you leave a comment please leave your oppinion on my pole, do you think we should stop cutting down the forests or continue as we are going.
