Role models are people we look up to.  Sports stars are people who are in the public eye not only on the weekends but also during the week at training and out and about with friends and family.  They have an obligation to behave in an orderly fashion as juniors all over the country look up to them and idolise them.  One day they hope to be like them.

Lately in the news there have been some disturbing reports of role models behaving badly.  I think that alcohol fuels violence and stupidity.  When groups get together and drink a lot, things can get ugly.  I believe that alcohol should be banned from team functions and I also believe that if a team member gets involved in something that will damage the reputation of the club then there should be a ‘three strikes and you’re out,’ rule!

It’s very disappointing for kids to see role models not thinking clearly.  Adults should know better, especially ones that are being paid big bucks.  On and off the field, they are being watched.

Most parents want to provide the best opportunities for their children in life, but where do you draw the line? Say there’s a fashion for blond hair babies…does that mean we will lose all of our brunets? Some people are very worried that they want laws to stop designer babies before they become a reality.what if they make a mistake while choosing some things about their children? What if your child has an IQ less than ninety. That means they will have some difficulties in life.

So there are some ups and downs about designer babies. my own opinion is you get what you are given but who knows what will happen in the future.
