Asylum Seekers
The government are letting a certain amount of refugees into Australia a year, but first the government must interview them. The governmentcatches and interviews Asylum seekers who in short are illegal refugees.
Asylum means safe place so Asylum seekers mean safe place seekers. People smugglers are the vilest form of human life and will rot in jail if caught.
Many Asylum seekers come because of danger in their country. Many come from Bali because it is extremly dangerous.
Asylum Seekers
A few weeks ago, there was a boat found in the ocean with people aboard. We found out that they were Asylum Smugglers and there were coming to Australia to get away from their country and Governor because over in their country they are inadequately treated so they came to Australia. Their boat was poorly built and they didn’t have enough food and water for their journey. Five people were killed and others were injured but they got to their destination, and that made them happy. If I was one of them I would try to be brave and some how try to survive.

Notorious Rabbits
Rabbits, one of the most hated animals in Australia. Why? You might ask, well for starters rabbits eat a lot and most of what they eat is farmer’s crops. Rabbits were introduced by European settlers for hunting but soon there was too many rabbits to handle. Now many people hunt rabbits and in many different ways such as poisoned baits, ripping up burrows and the most exiting way blowing up the burrows.
The rabbit problem eventually became so severe that scientists invented a virus called myxomatoses to kill rabbits, but soon after rabbits became immune to myxomatoses so they invented a new one called the calicivirus that too was effective but the rabbits also became immune to that. Some schools are getting their student to look for signs of rabbits in their area such as broken branches burrows and even poo!
Maybe we can find a way to stop rabbits eating our crops without killing all the rabbits

Rascally Rabbits
Rabbits are a big pest in Australia, although they look cute, cuddly and harmless.
They cost Australian Farmers around $200 million a year because some of their favourite foods are farmers crops.
These rabbits breed so fast that in 18 months, two rabbits turn into 184 fluff balls!!!
Kids from Australia are a part of a project called ‘Rabbit Scan’. The kids are trying to find out how many rabbits are in Australia. They learn about what to look for and then write down everything they find.

Asylum Seekers
Ayslum Seekers are people who come from another country without a visa and expect that they can be allowed to come into Australia and get a visa when they arrive.
The government are only aloud to invite so many immigrants into Australia. These Asylum Seekers pay thousands to come and start another live in Australia but because they are travelling illegially. The Coast Guards come out and check why they are travelling and if they have a document to prove that they are allowed to come to Australia. if they Coast Guards Don’t allow them to carry on then they will ask them to come onboard there boat which will take them to the nearest land. Most of these Asylum Seekers go days with only a little bit to eat and drink. Lookat how much food our parents pack into our lunch boxes each day. They probably only get a small amount of food compared to us. We have bottles of water in our bag wheras they only have a few sips of water or whatever the drink is.
Kevin Rudd Thinks that these Asylum Seekers should go to Jail because they are coming over illegially without any permission.

Rabbits
Rabbits have been a pest in Australia for over 100 years and are breeding fast.
How fast? The answer is very fast. 1 pair of rabbits can turn into 184 after just 1 month!!! They were first introduced to Australia by English game hunters who found them as good targets. But the problem is not enough were shot and they breed to quickly. Why is this bad you may ask. Well its bad because they eat native plants and carry rare diseases. So instead of shooting the rabbits they decided to infect them with a disease called Nyxamatopis. This disease only affects rabbits and wiped out the population by nearly 80%! But now they are coming back and breeding fast, so don’t see a rabit as a good thing when this cute animal is our worst feral animal.

B.T.N ~ Anzac Vigil
The day before Anzac day at 6.00pm kids right across South Australia gathered at the War Memorial to do an all night vigil where 300 kids from different organisations like Girl Guides, Scouts, Cadettes etc. will march around the historic site before tomorrow. The kids run it and the idea was made up by them to, years ago when the Memorial was vandalized and they were blamed so to show they care they organised this. Kids from different cultures lay there tokens of of respect at the service and many gained a lot of friends.

Asylum Seekers
Australia is a great country thousands of over seas people come every year some of them are called asylum seekers. Asylum seekers come many different countries and different cultures. Asylum seekers do not have permission to be in Australia but is not illegal.
Asylum means safe place and judging by the name it is no question why they come to Australia. These people must come to Australia by boat which isn’t the best thing to do. They have to go days even weeks with very little food. There is the risk of pirates or the boat sinking not to mention sickness and disease. Also recently a boat was blowed up and killed five asylum seekers and many more were injured. So people would ask why go through all that trouble just to change country, well some of the Asylum seekers come because of events happening in their own country. There is a problem when they come to australia they have to prove they are refugee’s or they have to go back to their county. many of these unlucky people have been sent back and are currently refugee’s in their country. Many of the luckier people are interviewed at Australia.
Other people get people smuggles to get them into Australia which is illegal. The prime minister said he thinks the people smuggles should rot in jail then go on and rot in hell. People smuggles are wrong and I agree with the prime minister.

Asylum Seekers
Taking headlines is the asylum seekers. Asylum means safe place and this is what these people are doing trying to get to safe place some people are finding it really hard in there countries so they are taking small boats here to Australia.
With permission people are taking these boats in very harsh conditions under the risk of starving or there boat being invaded with pirates.
Some people in the other countries are making money by selling tickets and bringing people over here to Australia with out permission. Also known as people smugglers.
Kevin Rudd says these people smugglers shold go to jail.
