BOTTLED WATER

In NSW a small town called Bundanoon has decided to ban something that seems harmless but could contribute to killing our world. It’s BOTTLED WATER.

But why is bottled water so bad? Here is some reasons why bottled water is so bad. Bottled water costs so much money to create and to buy when it would be much easier and cheaper to get it out of the tap. The plastic bottles which hold the water go through many stages each deadly for the environment. First they have to be manufactured in big factories which use electricity and energy which burns one of the very important non renewable resource, coal. When the coal burns it lets out tones of harmful gasses. Each plastic bottle uses 200ml of oil which we are running out of. The water has to be refridgerated in the shop, which uses electricity. When people dispose of the plastic bottle it goes into land fill and takes hundreds of years to break down.

Some people disagree with banning bottled water. they argue that if people walk into a shop and are thirsty and there isn’t any water in the fridge, they will choose sugary drinks which are bad for your health. People also believe that after natural disasters such as floods and fires the victims have to survive on bottled water.

This story has to very good arguments to each side. Overall I think bottled water should be banned but they should keep making it incase there is a natural disaster.

Outlaw Swimsuits

Have you ever seen famous swimmers wearing skin tight swimsuits. Well lately there has been a lot of controversy about these slick swimsuits. One type of these swimsuits are causing the most trouble, these swimsuits are made out of a material called polyurethane this allows the swimsuit to stay dry and not absorb any water which makes the swimmer go faster. It also keeps the air inside the swimsuit. Which makes the swimmer float. Normal swimsuits aren’t made out of polyurethane and they absorb water which creates drag, this slows the swimmer down. If you have ever tried to swim in your clothes you will know how drag affects your swimming.

If these swimsuits don’t absorb water what are they called? Well an object that does not absorb water or let water pass through it. It is called impermeable. And if the object does absorb water and lets water pass through it is called permeable. For example if you have ever tried pouring water on glad wrap you will notice that the glad wrap doesn’t absorb the water so it is impermeable. And if you have ever tried poring water over a t-shirt you will notice that the water passes straight through it so it is permeable.

Many people were involved in the design of these flashy swimsuits including N.A.S.A scientist and engineers. But was this all a waste. FINA said they are not going to let people wear them after the end of 2009. Because people say they are an unfair advantage. But some fear that no one will be able to beat the records.

If think FINA has made the right choice and these swimsuits should be banned.

BOTTLED WATER

One of the most important things your body needs is water. Your body is made up of 60% water that is alot. The brain is 70% water,lungs are 80% water,bones are 20% water and blood is more than 80% so we all have to drink alot of water to keep our bodies hydrated. Water also controls our body temperature and without it we would die, but a town in NSW  has decided to drink no water from bottles, why?

If we keep using plastic bottles it is alot of waste that  just gets put into a hole in the ground. They are trying to say it is a better idea to get a drink from a tap or put water in a drinking bottle that you can reuse.Last year Australians spent half a billion dollars on bottled water.

Precious resources like oil are used to make plastic, to make every one litre bottle of water 200mls of oil is used up. It also costs a lot of money and it is bad for the environment.

I think we should still be able to have a water bottle but try to reuse them instead of buying new ones. Taking away the choice of water in bottles means that shoppers will only buy sugary drinks which are bad for you. Bottled water is important during natural disasters like bushfires or floods when other water becomes contaminated.  

If they stop having water bottles they will need to put in more drinking taps all over the place and this will cost a lot of money. What do you think they should do? …..

Camels Plague

Camels are spreading fast all around the desert and they are destroying the cattle farmers farms. The farmers tryed to put some fences up but thats not enought o stop a hungry camel they just bulldoze down the fences and eat the farmers vegetables.

Camels Were originally from India. Camels were imported to Australia between  1840 and 1907. camels were brought to Australia to be pack animals and to carry supplies to remote areas.

The population of the camels in the outback is that they are increasing because the camels just keep breeding and they are breeding fast. If you went to the outback the 1st thing you’d see is proberly a camel wait scratch that a million camels.

What the camel are doing to the Farmers farms is that they step all over their vegetables and they are eating them and also doing their business on it. The farmers are doing all they can to stop those hungry camels but for that I am concerned the farmers will have to put up metal bars.

I really think that camels shouldn’t be culled because if camels didn’t do this then they would be a harmless animal and everyone nows that. Camels are really a very gental animal. Maybe why camels are doing this is because they are just hungry maybe they haven’t eaten for days and they need fuel in their body like if we were hungry and we hadn’t eaten in days then we would do anything would we not sot hats why they absolutely should not be culled.

Well what i think that would be a good solution if you want them to stop eating your vegetables then maybe get them to eat their vegetables. Well what i mean is that maybe the town could make patches of vegepatches for the camels and then everyone would be happy evan the camels.

Bottled water friend or foe?

Bundanoon is banning the sales of water because of the effects on the planet. It may look harmless, but when you think about it, it has a bad cycle. First to make the bottle you need at least 200ml of oil to make the bottle, then you would need to drive it to the shops and who knows how far that will be, if you were driving for 2hours that would release heaps of carbine monoxide. But it doesn’t end there; yes I am talking about the shops. We will be wasting power by putting it in the fridge for days. When it is bought it will be drank and littered on the ground making waste.

But water bottles have saved lives before, it could be used in floods when your tap or other water recourses are unsafe, it could be used in bushfires for those who lost their homes & countries who have no water and we could donate it to them.

FACT! Did you know that the human body needs water to digest!

Most people in Bundanoon said that water bottles are a waste of plastic, time, plastic and to get the oil you will be releasing gases named methane & greenhouse. They also say if you need water buy a glass bottle and get refills at milk bars for $1.00.

Here’s a question that I’m thinking of, Bottled water may save lives in extreme advents or for the poor, but if we stop we can stop pollution and that will save many lives too.

Outlaw Swimsuits

 About 2 weeks ago at the Rome swimming championship’s finished. There were heaps of records broken.About five years ago Ian Thorpe set a world record in the 400m freestyle since then no one has beaten it.But recently some random German came and bet the record.The man’s name is Paul Biedermann.  About 2 weeks ago at the Rome swimming championship’s finished. But how were so many records broken we’ll people think that the  suits were made of Polyurethane.Polyurethane helps water stay out so it doesn’t drag the swimmer along and gives them buoyancy so they can swim easier.Have you ever tried to swim under water and tried to actually get some where it’s very hard almost impossible.

 

I think  swimmers should be allowed to wear polyurethane suits because its their choice and any swimmer can choose what they want to wear.

I think that FINA has made the wrong decision about banning the polyurethane suits because its the swimmers choice of what they want to wear and any swimmer can wear the polyurethane suit.    

Swimsuits

At the world Swimming Championship in Rome over forty world records were broken. Has technology gone too far. It has because far to many records have been broken in one week. Scientists say its the swimsuits that the swimmers are wearing.

They are called polyurethene swimsuits. The swimsuit is supposed to make the swimmer swim faster because the material is impermeable. This means that water can’t get through the material it just runs of it. which will make the swimmer glide through the water. It also helps the swimmer float so then they are not using extra effort to keep themself above the water.

I think they shouldn’t ban the swimsuits because if they do  no ones ever going to beat the records again. So if they don’t ban the swimsuits people will then have a chance to beat records and then the Championships next year will be challenging and technology will continue making swimsuits.

Should Camels Be Culled?

For many years in the central Australian desert there have been many camels running around, trampling fences, eating crops and drinking out of sprinklers. This has been making some people upset including Kevin Rudd.

In my opinion camels should be treated with respect and to not be killed just for having babies as well as they make very nice pets and if killed the government should come up with a better reason why.              

If people have a problem with the camels there are many solutions including: building stronger fences, to go live somewhere else, or to just put up and live with it.

If Kevin Rudd decides to cull the camels it means he doesn’t care about the animals enough to help build fences for the community. Anyway there are tons of animals out there that are annoying and he doesn’t kill them.

Because of this argument there are now people annoyed and disturbed. This is not nice I mean how would you like it if you just got shot because there were too many people in your neighbourhood.
